With over 35 years of experience as a licensed psychotherapist in Northern New Jersey, Richard Drobnick, LCSW, DCSW is the Director of the first Mars & Venus Counseling Center in Bergen County. Richard provides compassionate, expert care for adults through individual therapy, couples counseling, and psychotherapy. His work is rooted in helping clients improve emotional well-being, strengthen relationships, and navigate life’s most personal challenges.
Richard is one of a select group of professionals in the United States who have been personally trained and licensed by Dr. John Gray, best known for his bestselling book Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus. This specialized training in relationship and marriage counseling has profoundly shaped Richard’s work with couples, allowing him to deliver practical, results-driven therapy that supports deep connection and meaningful change.
Richard began his career in clinical social work at Hackensack University Medical Center, where he served as a staff psychotherapist from 1979 to 1982. Since then, he has worked in private practice in Teaneck, serving clients throughout Bergen County, including towns like Hackensack, Ridgewood, Oradell, Ramsey, and Paramus. The Mars & Venus Counseling Center is also centrally located in Parsippany and Denville, NJ, Morris County.
Throughout his career, Richard has integrated a range of effective therapeutic approaches, drawing from both traditional psychotherapy and modern personal development tools. His years as a Senior Staff Instructor at Gestalt Unlimited, a postgraduate training center, reflect his depth of clinical knowledge and commitment to professional development.
Richard’s current focus is increasingly on couples counseling, including marriage therapy, relationship coaching, and communication-focused sessions that aim to resolve conflict and restore emotional intimacy. His practice also offers telehealth therapy, making support more accessible across Northern NJ.

Richard lives in Bergen County, New Jersey, with his wife Morrisa Drobnick, LCSW, also an accomplished therapist.
