The Mars & Venus Counseling Center is a full-service counseling center that offers a wide range of counseling services for various personal challenges, including individual therapy, couples counseling, marriage counseling, family therapy, child and teen counseling, life coaching, grief and bereavement, and pet loss therapy. Our counselors specialize in areas such as marriage, relationships, anxiety, depression, stress management, and more.
How long does a counseling session last, and how often should I attend?

Counseling sessions typically last 45-50 minutes. The frequency of sessions varies depending on your needs and the counselor's recommendations. Initially, sessions may be scheduled weekly, and then spaced out as progress is made.

Once we call the insurance and get the details of your insurance coverage, we will call you to discuss the coverage and match you with the best counselor for you.

What should I expect during my first counseling session?

During your first session, you'll have the opportunity to discuss your concerns, goals, and expectations with your counselor. This is also a chance for you and your counselor to get to know each other and determine if you're a good fit for working together.
Is counseling covered by insurance, and what are your fees?

We will then go over your basic information and the insurance information. Once we call the insurance and get the details of your insurance coverage, we will call you to discuss this insurance coverage, fees, and payment options.
What are your fees if I do not have insurance or I want to pay out-of-pocket?

Once we get your basic information (first name, last name, address, birthday, and phone number[s]), a counselor will contact you to go over the options if there is no insurance or you prefer to pay out-of-pocket.
When you are matched with the best counselor for you, the matched counselor will call you to set up an appointment.

How long does counseling typically last?

Can I choose my counselor?

Yes, you can express your preferences for a counselor, and we will do our best to match you with a therapist who specializes in your specific needs and is available at a convenient day and time for you.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please reach out to your counselor directly at least 48 hours in advance. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee.
How do I prepare for a counseling session?

There's no specific preparation needed. Just come with an open mind, honesty, and a willingness to engage in the therapeutic process. Your counselor will guide you through the session.

Do all your offices have in-person sessions?

As of this moment and the following availability is subject to change, the offices of Hackensack, Ramsey, and Parsippany offer in-person counseling. The Manhattan, Teaneck, Denville, Ridgewood, Paramus, and Oradell offices are exclusively virtual.
Are any Spanish-speaking counselors available?
